Virtual Coffee with the Board June 2026
The Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology’s (CAPhO) fourth Virtual Coffee with the Board took place on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 via Zoom. The get together provided members with an opportunity to engage and connect directly with CAPhO’s leadership in a casual, discussion-based setting. The meeting was chaired by CAPhO President Nikki Blosser.
To better facilitate open dialogue, the session was not recorded; however, below is a summary of the information shared and a link to the presentation slides.
CAPhO Awards Chair and Chair of the CAPhO Career Mentorship Program Task Force Jennifer Voisey provided an update on the development of CAPhO’s Mentorship Program, including the timeline for summer 2026 registration and a fall 2026 program launch. The program will offer participants a structured framework for engagement from fall 2026 through spring 2027, while maintaining flexibility for mentors and mentees to schedule meetings at times that suit them. The program aims to support the development of members’ skills in oncology pharmacy, strengthen retention within the discipline, and attract new members and students to CAPhO and the field of oncology pharmacy. Additional updates will be shared in the coming weeks through CAPhO’s website, social media, and email communications.
There was a discussion on ideas to reach student non members, so they know of the opportunity, and it was confirmed that members at all stages of their career are invited to participate. Members were invited to provide additional feedback and ideas.
CAPhO President Nikki Blosser shared that to build on the success of CAPhO Conference 2026, program structure adjustments are being explored for possible implementation at CAPhO Conference 2027, taking place from April 22nd to 25th in Montreal. Adjustments include potentially moving the Opening Plenary to Friday before the Welcome Reception to expand programing time during the Conference days to facilitate optimal timing for sponsored sessions, networking opportunities, and social events.
Nikki Blosser also reported on the Oncology Basics Revamp Request for Proposal (RFP) on behalf of Education Fundamentals Committee Chair and CAPhO Oncology Basics Authorship Committee Chair (COBASC) Xue Feng. CAPhO’s Oncology Basics learning modules provide accredited, self-study content designed to support members with a foundational overview of oncology therapies. The program is currently undergoing a comprehensive content update and redesign, and CAPhO has issued an RFP to identify experts in online learning and course delivery to support this work. Once selected, the external expert will work alongside CAPhO’s Association Management Office and the COBASC Committee to enhance delivery methods and introduce more interactive, case-based learning approaches for future Oncology Basics modules.
To conclude, CAPhO’s upcoming events and offerings were reviewed as follows, including a recent offering for Member-Driven Educational Initiatives whereby CAPhO gives financial support and guidance to assist members in the development of high-quality educational materials and clinical support resources.
Participants were invited to ask questions in an open forum. Upcoming events included:
• CAPhO’s Wild Card Learning and Travel Grants deadline - Wednesday, June 10
• CAPhO’s Research Community of Practice Virtual Session – Monday, June 15 at 11:00am PT
• Oncology Fundamentals Day 2026 – Saturday, October 17
• CAPhO Conference 2027 & Workshops – April 22-26, 2027 in Montreal, QC
