Miranda Artiga is a registered pharmacy technician based in Kelowna British Columbia. She currently works for BC Cancer. She graduated from Stenberg College in 2018. Miranda worked as an assistant and later as a technician in the retail sector until I joined BC Cancer in 2022. In addition to her general pharmacy technician role, she has been working as our secondary pharmacy purchaser for the past two years.

Provincial Manager of Pharmacy Operations, Saskatchewan Cancer Agency

Rebecca Aspen is the Provincial Manager of Pharmacy Operations for the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA).  She is responsible for the pharmacy operations at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre (Regina) and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre sites.  This includes distribution and clinical pharmacy services, pharmacy facilities and equipment, patient, staff and medication safety as well as pharmacy support to the Community Oncology Program of Saskatchewan (COPS).  She serves as the CCTG (Canadian Cancer Trials Group) Gynecology Disease Site pharmacy representative.  Rebecca is also a steering committee member for the HOPE (Honoring Oncology Pharmacy Excellence) Awards.

Peggy Beauchamp, BScPhm, RPh, began her career in hospital oncology pharmacy and is a founding member of CAPhO. She now works as a specialty rheumatology pharmacist on Ontario’s first government‑funded community‑based Specialty Health Team. Peggy holds a Motivational Interviewing Foundations Certificate from CCMI and has additional training in Brief Action Planning and chronic disease self‑management. She integrates MI and BAP throughout her team‑based practice, providing individual medication education and self‑management workshops that empower patients with the knowledge and skills to set achievable health‑related goals.

Darryl is the Director of Oncology Pharmacy Services for the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency with 35 years of oncology experience, including over 17 years in a senior management role. As Director, he oversees the pharmacy program at 2 tertiary cancer centres in Saskatchewan with approximately 100 employees, is involved with new oncology drug program and cancer biomarker funding and implementation, and is the Chair of the provincial oncology Drugs & Therapeutics Committee. Additionally, he is the current co-chair of Canada’s Drug Agency Oncology Working Group (OWG) and actively participates and leads oncology drug negotiations through the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA).

Nurse Practitioner, Hematology/Oncology, Arthur JE Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre — Calgary, Alberta

Reanne is an oncology and palliative care nurse practitioner with over 20 years experience in cancer care. She works with the hematology-oncology team at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary. Her clinical and research interests include integrating palliative care in oncology, sexuality and cancer, medical cannabis and cancer, and virtual cancer care. She is a PhD candidate in the School of Nursing at the University of Victoria. The focus of her PhD research is on the integration of palliative care for patients with hematologic malignancies. Reanne is the Immediate Past President of the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology.

Kara completed the Pharmacy Technician course at Red Deer College in 1996 and became a registered Pharmacy Technician in 2017. She started her career at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, and then spent 11 years working in Calgary at both the Peter Lougheed Centre and the Alberta Children’s Hospital, where she worked in the oncology satellite pharmacy. Kara joined the Saskatoon Cancer Centre in 2009 and held a Senior Pharmacy Technician role until 2023. Kara is currently the Pharmacy Technician Site Lead at the Saskatoon Cancer Center, responsible for managing the team of Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants.

Head of Product and Lead Oncology Pharmacist, iQ HealthTech, Co-chair BOPA AI Cancer advisory group, BOPA

Bastiaan Buijtenhuijs is Head of Product and Lead Oncology Pharmacist at iQ HealthTech, where he oversees the development of iQemo, a leading systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) prescribing system used across the UK and internationally. In this role, he bridges clinical oncology pharmacy needs with digital innovation, ensuring that user requirements are effectively translated into product functionality.
 
Bastiaan completed his MSc through the NHS Digital Academy (Cohort 3), focusing his dissertation on implementing AI-driven clinical decision-support systems in oncology pharmacy. He has also undertaken the NHS Digital Academy leadership programme, equipping him with strategic insight into digital transformation in healthcare. Bastian is working towards his PhD in Applied Artificial Intelligence at University College London.
 
His research interests include the application of AI in oncology pharmacy, clinical decision support and digital health innovation. He co-chairs the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) Artificial Intelligence Cancer Advisory Group and regularly contributes to webinars and educational events on AI in pharmacy practice.
 
Bastiaan is an active presenter and advocate for digital health, with recent talks including BOPA’s 2025 webinar on administrative efficiency in oncology pharmacy and AI use cases in cancer pharmacy at UK SACT Board.

Tina Crosbie is a clinical hematology pharmacist at The Ottawa Hospital's ambulatory hematology unit. With over 25 years of experience, she counsels patients diagnosed with lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and acute and chronic leukemia. For the past seven years, Tina is also a hematology pharmacist at Extend Pharmacy; a community oncology-focused pharmacy. Here she supports patients in managing their take-home anti-cancer therapy. Tina’s research aims to optimize drug administration and enhance patient education. She evaluates pharmacy education programs for CCCEP and volunteers her time for CAPhO, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Myeloma Canada.

Originally from Saskatoon, Michelle moved to Ottawa in 2004 for her hospital pharmacy residency and has stayed with TOH since, working primarily in Malignant Hematology and Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (TCT). Along with providing direct patient care on the inpatient and outpatient TCT service, she regularly provides advice and information to her colleagues and team members. Michelle is involved in developing computer system treatment plan builds for transplant and CAR T-cell therapies and helps to support other practice improvements.

Michelle Deschamps obtained her pharmacy degree at the University of Saskatchewan in 1989 when hair was big and cancer drug formularies were short. She returned to complete a Master’s degree in pharmacy practice in 2002. Michelle has worked in a variety of practice settings over the decades including community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, and academia. Michelle joined the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency in 2009 and is currently a Senior Oncology Pharmacist with a clinical interest in genitourinary cancers. Outside of work, she is an avid knitter, quilter and rugby fan and lives right here in Saskatoon.

After completing a pharmacy degree at the University of Waterloo, I returned to Alberta and joined the Cross Cancer Institute. I started practicing in the ambulatory hematology clinics thereafter and have since collaborated with the team to create multiple pharmacy led clinics in myeloma and CLL. I also practice in the inpatient setting on hematology as well as the cellular therapy units where I look after autologous as well as CAR T patients. I have an interest in precepting and have mentored various learners in ambulatory and inpatient practices.

Marc Geirnaert is the Director of the Provincial Oncology Drug Program at CancerCare Manitoba since June 2014. He obtained his Bachelor of Sciences in Pharmacy from the University of Manitoba in 2002 and his Masters of Pharmacoeconomics in 2004. Marc is also a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP). Marc started his oncology pharmacy career in January 2003 as staff pharmacist working in various clinics such as lymphoproliferative disorders, bone marrow transplant, genitourinary malignancies and central nervous system tumors. Marc’s interests include implementation of new therapies, immunology and innovation of cancer treatments.

Kyia graduated from Memorial University's School of Pharmacy in 2018. She then went on to complete an Accredited Canadian Residency Program in 2019 at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Alberta. This was an oncology-focused program, where most of her training was in hematology. Since completing her residency, she has worked in the blood and marrow transplant clinic at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre until 2022. She has since transitioned to inpatient hematology/BMT and is a clinical pharmacist at the Arthur Child Cancer Centre in Calgary. She is interested in infectious disease post-transplant or CAR T-cell/BiTE therapy.

Ashley Jang is a Compassionate Access Program Coordinator at BC Cancer Provincial Pharmacy, where she manages the review and coordination of requests for oncology treatments across British Columbia. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology/Behavioural Neuroscience and an Entry-to-Practice Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of British Columbia, and completed a hospital pharmacy residency with Lower Mainland Pharmacy Services. Previously, Ashley practiced as a Clinical Pharmacist at Burnaby Hospital, where she served as the lead for Community Outpatient Services and provided care in other areas including oncology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, surgery, cardiology, palliative care, and dispensary.

Michael LeBlanc, PharmD, CHE is an oncology pharmacy and healthcare systems leader based in Atlantic Canada, with more than two decades of experience advancing hospital pharmacy practice and interprofessional care. He currently holds a senior leadership role as Director of Pharmacy Professional Practice at Horizon Health Network, a regional health authority in New Brunswick.  In this role, he provides strategic oversight for clinical pharmacy services across multiple sites. Michael’s professional work has focused on improving the safety, quality, and sustainability of complex medication-use systems, particularly in oncology. He has led and supported initiatives related to chemotherapy safety, clinical service integration, performance measurement, and workforce development. Known for his pragmatic and people-centred leadership style, he places strong emphasis on building trust, supporting professional growth, and creating environments where pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can practice to their full scope. Michael is actively engaged in mentorship and professional development, both locally and nationally. He has contributed to CAPhO committees and initiatives, supported learners and early-career pharmacists, and is a frequent collaborator on practice advancement research and quality improvement work.  He holds the Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation from the Canadian College of Health Leaders, reflecting his commitment to continuous learning and effective health system leadership. Michael is also an active member in the Canadian Society of Healthcare-Systems Pharmacy (CSHP) where he was awarded fellowship status in 2015. He is the past chair of the CSHP Research and Education Foundation.

Melissa received her PharmD from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2011 and went on to complete an Ambulatory Pharmacy Practice Residency at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in 2012. Shortly after, she joined the ambulatory pharmacy team at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre where she has been practicing for the past 7 years and more recently is splitting her time in the malignant hematology day unit . She has participated in a variety of educational roles and quality improvement projects. She was part of the pilot project exploring the role of a pharmacist in an interdisciplinary outpatient malignant hematology clinic and most recently completing a secondment with Investigational Pharmacy Services.

As a graduate of Herzing College, he has been working in pharmacy for nearly 25 years; working in community, hospital and specialty pharmacy setting. As the Enrollment Coordinator, he loves collaborating with his teams to enhance workflows and implement new procedures that best support our patients. He enjoys supporting our patients by explaining what services his pharmacy offers, answering questions to the best of his abilities and being a reassuring voice during a difficult time. Pediatric Oncologist and Sarcoma Medical Oncologist, Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital – Saskatoon, SK

Dr. Marwa is a pediatric oncologist and sarcoma medical oncologist with an interest in bone sarcomas and adolescent/young adult oncology. He received his pediatrics training at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN followed by pediatric hematology-oncology training at Dalhousie University. Subsequently, he received additional training in sarcoma medical oncology at the Tom Baker Cancer Center in Calgary, AB. During his appointment as a sarcoma medical oncologist at the Saskatoon Cancer Center, he was the provincial lead for the sarcoma disease site group in Saskatchewan until December 2025. Dr. Marwa is the local principial investigator in Saskatchewan for the Canadian Sarcoma Research and Clinical Consortium (CanSaRCC) and has received a Saskatchewan Cancer Agency Grant to study treatment patterns and outcomes in Patients with Ewing Sarcoma. He is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and is an active young investigator within the bone tumor committee at COG.

Dr. Brian O’Rourke served as the President and CEO of CADTH from 2009-2020 following a distinguished career with the Canadian military. He has a BSc in Pharmacy from Dalhousie University and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Toronto. Dr. O’Rourke is an expert in health technology assessment (HTA) and serves as Chair of the HTA Steering Committee at the Centre for Innovation in Regulatory Science. He also served as President of the ISPOR Board in 2023-2024, and Board Chair of the International Network of Agencies for HTA from 2014-2018. Dr. O’Rourke is an Emeritus leader of the Canadian Health Leadership Network.

Chris Ralph is a clinical pharmacist with the Complex Cancer Pain Management Service, an outpatient palliative oncology multidisciplinary team at the Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Calgary.  A CAPhO Fellow and graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland’s School of Pharmacy, he has presented at numerous regional, national, and international conferences and co-authored a chapter in a palliative care text published by Oxford University Press. In addition to his clinical work, Chris is a certified yoga teacher with interests in the therapeutic potential of psychedelics, medicinal cannabis, the placebo response, and mind–body approaches such as breathwork, music, and nature-based practices. Outside of work, he can often be found hiking, biking, or skiing in the Rockies, or producing music on his latest instrument—a Siberian hand-crafted handpan.

Lisa has a pharmacy degree from the University of Toronto. Following graduation, she completed a pharmacy residency at The Ottawa Hospital and subsequently obtained a master’s degree in Epidemiology from the University of Ottawa. She has practiced clinically in the field of oncology for more than 30 years and has enjoyed most of her career as the Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in Gynecologic Oncology. Currently, Lisa is the Pharmacist Team Leader for the Cancer Program at The Ottawa Hospital. She has a strong interest in quality improvement.

Dr. Maxwell Sauder is a board-certified dermatologist with fellowship training in cutaneous oncology and skin toxicity. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Fellowship Director in Cutaneous Oncology at the University of Toronto and an onco-dermatologist at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. He received his Doctor of Medicine from McMaster University, completed dermatology residency at the University of Ottawa, and completed fellowship training at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School, where he also served as an instructor. He is principal investigator on over 50 clinical trials and leads a specialized pigmented lesion clinic focused on melanoma and complex skin cancer care.

Jeff Wandzura is a pharmacist, entrepreneur and healthcare executive. He has co-founded and sold two digital health ventures and led technology transformation mandates across multiple healthcare organizations. 

Jeff is the CEO of KEEP Labs, a real-time patient intelligence platform providing visibility and support to critical moments in the patient journey in the home. Previously, Jeff served as the Vice President of Innovation at BioScript Solutions, Director at BDM (GE’s former hospital pharmacy software) and currently sits on the Business Advisory Committee of the Canadian Pharmacists Association.

Jeff received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan.

Jason completed his pharmacy degree at Dalhouise University and his Pharmacy Residency at The Ottawa Hospital. He has practiced as an inpatient Medical Oncology pharmacist for nearly 10 years, from 2010 to 2019 and is a Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist. He has earned a Master’s in Health Management in 2019. Jason is the Founder of and Oncology Pharmacist at Extend Pharmacy, Ottawa’s first cancer-focused ambulatory oncology pharmacy. His areas of research interest include integration of pharmacy learners into practice, simulation education, oral anticancer therapy education and key performance indicators for pharmacists. He is currently involved in several CAPhO initiatives and is a Regional Clinical Coordinator for the University of Waterloo PharmD program in Ottawa.

Tana’s pharmacy technician career spans more than 30 years, with experience across a wide range of practice settings. She’s held roles in acute care, community oncology, corrections, forensic psychiatry, outpatient services, central production, and provincial leadership. Throughout her career, Tana has been a strong advocate for inspiring pharmacy technicians to expand their knowledge and skills, practice to full scope, and pursue professional and leadership opportunities. A certified change practitioner, Tana made history as the first pharmacy technician to serve on the NAPRA Board of Directors and currently serves as the first pharmacy technician President of the CCAPP Board. She has completed Critical Point Sterile Compounding training and has contributed to working groups for the Alberta College of Pharmacy, NAPRA, CCAPP, and PEBC.
