CAPhO Conference 2019 Welcome Message

On behalf of the 2019 Planning Committee, I invite you to attend the Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology (CAPhO) Conference from April 25 to 28, 2019 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

We are fortunate to have a wonderful venue located in the heart of downtown Halifax. The Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel is located steps from dining, entertainment and historical sites that you can enjoy in between conference sessions: stroll along the boardwalk to the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic; browse the shops and restaurants of the restored Historic Properties; explore the history of Citadel Hill and beauty of the Public Gardens and finish up with a drink at a local brewery or a hotpot of seafood delights!

The Conference program is developed around the theme of Personalized Medicine. In the last fifty years, there has been a dramatic evolution in the treatment of cancer: from toxic, nonspecific single agents to combination chemotherapy, immunotherapy, genomic testing plus surgery and radiation. With these advances, cancer treatment is becoming much more personalized: assessing patients for hormone status, genetic markers, performance/frailty status and mode of delivery. We must balance the benefits of newer therapies with toxicity profile, cost, regimen schedules and, most importantly, what the patient wants for their treatment journey.

Join us in Halifax for a variety of engaging discussions, keynote speakers and presentations that will help you in providing personalized care to your patients and building relationships with peers from across the country.

We look forward to welcoming you to Halifax next spring!
