Announcing CAPhO’s Professional Liability Insurance for Members

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting members, the Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology (CAPhO) is offering Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) to its membership starting July 1, 2025.

CAPhO’s PLI coverage, underwritten by Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company and managed by PROLINK Insurance, has been tailored to provide the following key benefits to members:

  1. Superior coverage meeting Provincial Regulatory requirements with additional unique protection features
  2. Competitive pricing for 2025 and pricing stability in the future
  3. A Canadian-owned and operated insurer and insurance brokerage with experience providing PLI to healthcare professionals

The PLI program offers members with comprehensive, cost-effective coverage that exceeds the Provincial Regulator requirements in all Provinces where the program is offered (excluding Québec). Designed specifically for Oncology Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians in Canada, the PLI policy will provide the membership with features such as:

  • Coverage that meets or exceeds minimum liability limits in all applicable provinces
  • Coverage amount of $2,000,000 per occurrence of a claim with a $4,000,000 aggregate for all claims in the policy period. Higher coverage amounts are available.
  • Legal defense and liability settlement coverage
  • Protection when supervising students
  • Support for patients through counselling coverage in the event of serious incidents

The PLI policy will also provide the following policy value-added coverage exceeding the Provincial College requirements:

  • No deductible
  • Privacy breach and cyber security liability support, including expert consulting
  • Legal expense coverage for criminal proceedings and regulatory investigations
  • Access to telephone legal advice for personal or professional matters
  • Legal document review and basic letter drafting services
