Why Attend the CAPhO Conference

The annual CAPhO Conference provides participants with essential knowledge in the practice of oncology pharmacy and unbeatable networking opportunities.

Formerly known as the National Oncology Pharmacy Symposium (NOPS), the three-day Conference focuses on a key theme that is presented through a mixture of educational sessions delivered by leaders in the field.

Members and non-members attend year after year to ensure they are at the forefront of their profession, to meet with colleagues to continue the conversations, and to appreciate the host cities, from coast to coast. Here are some of the reasons attendees provided for attending the Conference:

#1 Gain Insight

I return to work with the insight from more than 20 speakers who present on key topics in oncology pharmacy. I appreciate the work that goes into posters – they provide me with new ways of looking at issues in my practice. The industry updates provided during sponsored satellite symposia and by exhibitors keeps me in the know. I get all of this from one conference!

#2 Make Connections and Contribute to Oncology Pharmacy Field

The organizers intentionally include many networking breaks, and a reception amongst the exhibits and posters. Every year I make valuable connections with other oncology pharmacy practitioners and I reconnect with people I have met over the years. When I have a question that needs answering, I have a whole network at my fingertips.

#3 Shape My Association

I get a lot out of CAPhO, because I make a point of giving to it. My voice is heard by the Board who schedule the Annual General Meeting and the Town Hall Breakfast Meeting during the Conference. They are also at the CAPhO booth to answer questions and discuss issues. The Board make themselves available – I appreciate that.

#4 Enjoy the Destination (for In-person Conferences)

Don’t discount the destination. CAPhO Conferences are held in beautiful cities across Canada. I have travelled to Vancouver, Saskatoon and St. John’s. I have met with local oncology pharmacists whose working day is different from mine due to provincial regulations. It makes for very interesting conversations.
