Speaker Biographies

Mark Brown, Hamilton Health Sciences, Hamilton, ON

After receiving his Bachelor’s in biochemistry at Queen’s University in 1999, Mark headed south to work in prostate cancer research at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.  Feeling the need to be closer to patients and their care, he went on to complete his PharmD at Purdue University in 2007.  After graduation he pursued 2 years of pharmacy residency training including Hematology-Oncology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.  Looking to be closer to home, he took up the role of a hematology and bone marrow transplant pharmacist at McMaster University’s Hamilton Health Sciences.  Mark has a passion for teaching, and strong interests in infectious diseases and an interdisciplinary approach to caring for patients.  

Vincent Ha, Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton, AB

Vincent Ha is a clinical pharmacist at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. He graduated in 2014 from the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Pharmacy with a BSc. Pharm and subsequently completed a pharmacy residency in Calgary. His current practice is with the ambulatory palliative care team and the palliative radiation team. He has previously worked on the inpatient units with a specialization in autologous stem cell transplantation. In addition to his clinical practice, Vincent enjoys precepting and mentoring pharmacy students and residents, and continues to guest lecture at the University of Alberta. 

Carrie Kung, BC Cancer Provincial Pharmacy, Vancouver, BC

Carrie Kung is an oncology drug information specialist at BC Cancer. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of British Columbia and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Washington. Carrie is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and she has practiced in a variety of ambulatory and inpatient settings. Carrie is also a clinical instructor with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of British Columbia.  She lectures on lung cancer for the faculty’s oncology and palliative care course. 

Stephanie Lovering, The Ottawa Hospital, Ottawa, ON

Stephanie Lovering received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Post-Baccalaureate Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Toronto. Prior to pharmacy, Stephanie completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a subject of specialization in Life Sciences at Queen’s University at Kingston, Ontario. She completed a Pharmacy Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. She has been practicing in oncology for three years and is currently a clinical pharmacist in inpatient medical oncology at The Ottawa Hospital. Stephanie is currently the Co-chair of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists Ottawa Valley Chapter and a proud member of CAPhO. 

Nicole MacDonald, Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer, St. Johns, NL

Nicole MacDonald is a clinical oncology pharmacist at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland. She graduated from Memorial University in 2015 and went on to complete a hospital residency in Moncton, New Brunswick in 2016. She has worked in oncology since 2016 with experience in a variety of areas and has a focus on breast cancer. She is currently completing her Doctor of Pharmacy through the University of Toronto.

Irina Rajakumar, Foothills Medical Center, Calgary, AB

Irina Rajakumar is a pharmacist with Infectious Diseases and Antimicrobial Stewardship at Foothills Medical Center, Calgary, AB.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from the University of Toronto in 2008 and completed a Hospital Pharmacy Residency at London Health Sciences Center, London, ON. Prior to joining the Infectious Diseases team in 2017, Irina worked in Hematology Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplantation in London, Ottawa, as well as in Calgary. During her oncology practice, she was involved in several antimicrobial stewardship initiatives and residency projects centered on antibiotic use. She enjoys precepting pharmacy students and residents and  is a Board Certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist.

Danica Wasney, CancerCare Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB

Danica Wasney works at CancerCare Manitoba.  She is involved in provincial implementation of emerging systemic therapies in oncology-hematology as a member of the provincial Medication Management and Safety Committee and as Co-Chair of the Formulary Management Team. She is a past member of the Expert Review Committee for the pan-Canadian Oncology Drug Review (pCODR) at the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH).

She graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at University of Manitoba and completed an Accredited Hospital Pharmacy Residency at The Ottawa Hospital.  She is a Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist and is involved with CAPhO as a member of the Research Committee and with several Education Committee initiatives.
