Updated Oncology Basics tutorials are now online!

CAPhO's continuing education program Oncology Basics has been updated and newly accredited. It is once again online and ready for use.

Made up of six self-study tutorials and a quiz, Oncology Basics is accredited for 5 CEUs from the Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy.

After Oncology Basics was first released in 2011, we received very complimentary reviews from a wide range of participants. Here are a few examples:

“… an amazing tool for all new pharmacists practicing in oncology” – new to oncology pharmacy

“A good review of the major principles of oncology pharmacy practice” – experienced practitioner

“… has great value for new pharmacists or technicians entering into the area of oncology practice in Canada” – a technician

Oncology Basics has been updated so that it continues to serve as a comprehensive resource for pharmacists and technicians new to oncology, and a convenient up-to-date refresher for experienced practitioners. It is made up of six tutorials: 1) Cancer Primer, 2) Introduction to Cancer Pharmacotherapy, 3) Cytotoxic Chemotherapy, 4) Toxicity of Chemotherapy Agents, 5) Hormonal Manipulation, Immunotherapy and Differentiating Agents, and 6) Targeted Therapies.

For a sneak preview of its user-friendly content and eye-friendly layout, visit Oncology Basics, which also has details on how members and non-members (a new feature) can gain access.
