This webinar discusses Adolescents and Young Adults' (AYAs) unique needs along their cancer journey that includes areas of their well-being such as fertility concerns, sexual health, symptom management and treatment adherence that requires the support of pharmacist and their knowledge to educate and adapt to the AYAs experience.
After this webinar, you'll be able to:
- Identify who is an AYA and what are their unique health needs on their cancer journey
- Understand the important role of the pharmacist in the care of AYAs in oncology
- Identify the available resources to AYAs across Canada
- Understand the challenges faced as AYA survivors of cancer
About the Presenter
Samantha Scime
Samantha (Sam) is a clinical nurse specialist passionate about health equity and improving the experience of diverse populations across the cancer continuum. Since 2011, Sam has worked in various oncology nursing roles, has participated in curriculum development for several oncology courses, and has led award-winning quality improvement projects in patient and staff education, systemic therapy administration, as well as, cancer-related sexual health. Sam holds a Master of Nursing with a collaborative specialization in Sexual Diversity Studies from the University of Toronto, is past Director-at-Large of Professional Practice for the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology and is an executive member of the Sexual and Gender Diversity in Cancer Care (SGDc) Program at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
