CAPhO, the Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology, is the national forum for oncology pharmacy practitioners and other health care professionals interested in oncology pharmacy.

CAPhO promotes the practice of oncology pharmacy in Canada by conducting educational events, maintaining appropriate professional practice standards, facilitating communication between oncology pharmacists and other interested health professionals, and developing oncology pharmacy as an area of specialty practice.

Of particular note is the annual National Oncology Pharmacy Symposium (NOPS), held across Canada in the fall to support oncology pharmacy as a specialty practice.

CAPhO Executive Committee has the following vacant positions and is seeking interested volunteers: President-Elect, Communications Officer and 1 Member-at-Large position.

The position of President-Elect is an elected position. If you are interested in running for election, please send an email to Dana Cole, Past President, via the CAPhO website including a statement of interest and CV. Nominations for this position aree still open. After that time, an election will be called if needed via email and website communication. Please refer to the CAPhO bylaws for information on the term of President-Elect/President/Past President. Two years are served at each position. Either Dana Cole, Past President, or Carlo DeAngelis, President, are happy to discuss the position with any interested individuals and we can be contacted via the website.

The positions of Communications Officer and Member-at-Large are appointed positions. Please submit a letter of interest with your CV to Dana Cole, Past President, via the website. Should there be more than one volunteer for each position, decision as to appointment is made by the Executive Committee. If you would like more information on either of these positions, please contact Dana Cole or Carlo DeAngelis via the website.

are persons with health related professional qualifications who support the objectives of and pay fees to the Association.

Corporate Members are corporations who support the objectives and pay fees to the Association.

All other proposed categories are additions to Membership 7.1.1

The Bylaw Revisions will be included on the agenda for vote at the CAPhO AGM October 24, 2009, in Ottawa.

HOPE "Epigenetics & Cancer" is an educational program that will introduce pharmacists and other health-care professionals to the field epigenetics and explain why this area of investigation has become a focus in the search for effective cancer therapies. Click here to participate.

HOPE Molecular Biology of Cancer and Promise of Targeted Therapy will introduce the basics in molecular biology of cancer and explore the promise of targeted therapy. HOPE CINV was developed to assist pharmacists with the supportive care of oncology patients who experience chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV). This innovative e-learning initiative is designed to update knowledge on the clinical practice guidelines and recent advances in the prevention and management of CINV.
