Three CAPhO Conference Poster Awards are presented annually at the CAPhO Conference. Each of these awards consists of a certificate and cash award of $500. There is one poster award for each of the following categories: Best Overall Poster for Research, Best Overall Poster for Pharmacy Practice and Best Overall Poster for Administration
Candidates must be CAPhO members who have paid their annual dues prior to February 1st of the application year. They must have an accepted abstract for presentation at the conference, have a poster at the conference and be present at the Welcome Reception - Exhibit and Posters Viewing to answer questions from peers and judges. Each poster will compete in one of the above categories only. Encore posters, posters submitted by non CAPhO members and Industry-sponsored posters are not eligible for the awards and are therefore not judged during the conference.
Selection of candidates
A panel of 6-9 judges (2-3 per category) – consisting of CAPhO Awards Committee, CAPhO Conference Planning Committee and CAPhO Executive Committee members – reviews and assesses the posters on the Friday and/or Saturday of the CAPhO Conference. The judges all use a predefined scoring sheet to assess each poster in their assigned category. The poster with the highest score in each category is declared the winner. If the group of judges is unable to come to a consensus, a tie-breaker judge is asked to assess the posters.
Responsibilities of recipient
The award winners will be informed Saturday evening and the awards are presented on Sunday morning at the Awards Presentation Plenary Session. The winners are expected to do a 10 minute presentation after the awards are announced. Within 1 month of attending the conference the recipients must submit a headshot JPEG photograph of themselves and a PDF version of their poster via email to info @ capho.org. The photograph and poster will be included in the CAPhO E-newsletter. If attending the following CAPhO Conference the recipients are invited to complete a short shift at the CAPhO booth in order to promote the CAPhO Awards and Grants Program.
