Submit your Poster Abstract(s) Now

If you are a member of CAPhO or attended the CAPhO Conference 2017, you will have received an email containing your personalized link to submit a poster abstract. Please use the link provided in the email and do not create a new login. If you have not received an email with your personalized link, please contact the association management office at info@capho.org to request the link.

If you are not a member of CAPhO and did not attend the CAPhO Conference 2017, please access the online poster abstract submission site to submit one or two poster abstracts.

NOTE: For abstract submission and Conference registration, you will be required to create a login to the abstract submission and registration sites, using your email address and a password. The same login will work for both sites. Please note the login details as you will need them to access your record at a later date, should you wish to make changes.

Deadline for poster abstract submission is Monday, January 29, 2018 at midnight PST. The submitting author will be notified of acceptance by email the week of February 12, 2018.

Re-Enter your Poster Abstract Submission Record

If you would like to re-enter your record to edit and submit a draft poster abstract or a second poster abstract, please sign in to the abstract submission site. Once you are in your record, you can edit drafted abstracts or add a second poster abstract until the submission deadline of January 29, 2018, midnight PST.

Poster Abstract Submission Guidelines

Poster Abstract Submission Deadline
All poster abstracts are to be submitted via the online submission site by Monday, January 29, 2018 at midnight PST. The submitting author will be notified of acceptance by email the week of February 12, 2018. 

Presenting Author Registration
The presenting author must register for the Conference by Monday, March 12, 2018. The submitting author is responsible for notifying the presenting author of the registration deadline. 

Title and Content
The poster title must be submitted in Title Case. The poster abstract is to include an objective, design, results, conclusion and contact information.

Poster Abstract Submission Categories
The following four submission categories are available:

  1. Administration: Staff training programs, pharmacoeconomics, drug preparation and delivery, projects that address compliance to provincial regulatory standards or national best practice guidelines
     
  2. Pharmacy practice (non-research based): Descriptions of innovative patient care programs, drug utilization evaluations/drug management programs, quality assurance projects
     
  3. Research - Clinical: Evaluation of pharmacist interventions, clinical qualitative studies, meta-analyses or scoping reviews on clinical topics
     
  4. Research - Non-clinical: Original research on drug stability, pharmacokinetic studies, pharmacodynamics studies including incidence of adverse reactions, pharmacogenomics projects, patient attitude or behavioral studies, education projects

Presentation Types
The following two presentation types are available:

  • New Poster (poster that has not been displayed before)
  • Encore Poster (poster that has been presented elsewhere)

Only new posters submitted by CAPhO members are considered for the CAPhO Poster Awards. Encore posters are not considered for judging however may be presented to provide exposure to a new audience.

Author Information
The following author information is required:

  • Name and contact information of submitting author
  • Name and affiliation of any co-authors

Poster Abstract Length
The maximum length of a poster abstract is 200 words.

Abbreviations
The use of standard abbreviations is desirable.

Language
Poster abstracts and posters are accepted in either English or French.

Number of Submissions
An individual may submit up to two poster abstracts.

Sponsor
If applicable, please provide the name and contact information (including phone and email) of the poster abstract sponsor.

Poster Abstract Terms and Conditions

  • All individuals may submit a maximum of two poster abstracts. 
  • All submissions will be kept by the CAPhO Conference organizers, and will not be returned. 
  • All submissions are subject to review by the CAPhO Research Committee
  • The CAPhO Research Committee's decision(s) by email the week of February 12, 2018
  • All accepted abstracts will be published as a supplement to the July 2018 Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice (JOPP). By submitting an abstract you consent to the publication of this abstract. 
  • In order for your poster abstract to be included in the JOPP supplement and presented at the Conference, the presenting author must register for CAPhO 2018 by Monday, March 12, 2018. 
  • A PDF version of the poster is required prior to the Conference for posting on the CAPhO website and the CAPhO Conference App.

Poster Display Criteria

Poster Session Attendance and Presentation
Attendance is mandatory at the Welcome Reception on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 17:15 to 19:00 and at the CAPhO Poster Award Presentations Session on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 09:15 to 09:45. Providing multiple copies of supporting documents and/or brochures is encouraged during the reception.

Poster Size

  • All new posters must be 45 x 45 inches in dimension
  • Encore posters that exceed this size must be pre-approved by the Conference Organizers. Please email conference@capho.org to advise of your poster size.
  • All posters must be displayed on poster paper. Sheets of 8.5 x 11 will not be accepted.
  • Materials must be readable from a distance of 3 feet or more
  • The font used must be a minimum of 22 points and in bold format
  • Industry-sponsored posters must clearly be identified as such - please state on your poster "Sponsored by (Company name/s)"
  • A PDF version of the poster is required to be sent to conference@capho.org by Wednesday, April 4, 2018 for posting on the CAPhO website.

CAPhO Poster Awards

Poster Award Eligibility
In order to be eligible for a CAPhO Poster Award, the submitting author who is also the first author must have paid their CAPhO membership fee by February 1, 2018.

Poster Award Judging
A panel of judges will review all new posters of CAPhO members on May 4 and May 5, 2018 during the Conference. If you are not present at the Welcome Reception to answer questions of the judges, points will be deducted off your total score. Encore posters, posters submitted by non CAPhO members and company sponsored posters are not considered for the CAPhO Poster Awards.

Poster Award Presentation
There will be four awards presented:

  • Best Overall Poster for Administration - $500
  • Best Overall Poster for Pharmacy Practice - $500
  • Best Overall Poster for Research (Clinical) - $500
  • Best Overall Poster for Research (Non-clinical) - $500

If your poster is selected for a Poster Award, you will be asked to give a brief poster presentation at the Poster Award Presentations Session on the Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 09:15 and 09:45. There will be four presentations at eight minutes each (six minutes for the presentation and two minutes for audience questions).
